  1. Draught proof around your front door. This will help to prevent cold air from coming into your home through these colder periods.
  2. Insulate the loft. It will help with preventing heat to escape through the top of our home.
  3. Try and have a shower instead of a bath as baths tend to use a larger amount of hot water.
  4. Install double glazing. It will improve the thermal comfort of your home, and help save a bit on your energy bills.
  5. Replace lighting with low energy LED lights. They use much less energy and also lasts longer.
  6. Avoid using a dryer to dry clothes as they are very expensive to run, try and hang them outside whenever you can.
  7. Only boil the amount of water you need, don’t overfill the kettle!
  8. Turn the water off when brushing your teeth.
  9. Avoid blocking radiators with any sort of furniture, as allowing convection currents to flow will let the hot air be felt across the room much quicker.

  14. Clean filters – dishwashers and washing machines. It will allow them to perform better and less likely to break down.
  15. Ice building up in the freezer reduces its effectiveness. Try and defrost it regularly.
  16. Try and swap a full-size computer to a laptop or Ultrabook.
  17. Before you leave your house make sure all electrical appliances are off – Don’t leave electrical devices on standby.
  18. Try walking instead of driving to places!
  19. Save energy in the kitchen – Thaw frozen foods in the fridge to reduce cooking time. Also, try and use the microwave when possible, – it uses less energy than an electric oven
